Employee Spotlight: Jeannie Moreira

Welcome to Hyosung’s employee spotlight! Our December Spotlight is on Jeannie Moreira, Director of Service Strategy & Finance.

Get to know more about Jeannie below!

Q: How long have you worked at Hyosung? What was your start date?

A: I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary with Hyosung, on March 14th

Q: Can you tell us a little more about your background and how you joined the company in 2022?

A: Although I started with Hyosung only a year ago, in 2022, I am not new to IT and the business industry. I graduated with a Finance / Accounting degree and joined AT&T’s State Research & Tax department. I quickly moved into Accounting, and then finance. Once the tri-vestiture of AT&T/Lucent/NCR took place, I chose to stay with NCR Corporation, remained in finance, and business consulting for several years before taking the leap to a Territory Manager, Account Support, Region Business and Operations Director. I have had a variety of roles and experiences within 20+ years.

Q: What was your first impression of Hyosung?

A: I was excited to come to work for a smaller company. My first impression was how welcoming and helpful people were. I quickly learned how patient everyone was with my learning curve and how much others were willing to share and assist.

Q: Are there any important skills or attributes that are important for someone that wants to pursue a career as a Product Marketing Manager? Is there anything about your job or your team that you think people outside would find surprising or different in the way you/it works?

A: While I certainly do not feel like I have acquired all of the necessary skills to master this job role / career, I would share that having a broad spectrum of knowledge in both finance and operations is very helpful. Understanding the P&L, enjoying the process of researching the ‘numbers’ and being a detective, and uncovering why they are what they are, are all important attributes to have. Additionally, since this role is multi-faceted, understanding how the operational side of things work, including contractual SLA commitments and analyzing data, are essential.

Q: Can you tell us about your role and summarize your day-to-day responsibilities?

A: As slightly indicated from the previous response, my role is multi-faceted, and no two days are exactly alike, which actually delights me greatly! I get to be involved with various projects and initiatives, sometimes in a discovery way, in order to quantify if there is value in further researching an opportunity, and other times in a consultative manner, in order to focus on efficiency improvements. Additionally, some other things that I get to do, include taking part in planning, forecasting, and analyzing monthly financial results, work on ensuring adherence to our contracts from a financial perspective, implement processes for our analyst and billing teams, and partner with my teams to ensure that we are providing accurate and timely invoices, and collection of billings.

Q: What inspires you every day?

A: Every day, I am inspired by the all of the employees and the challenges that they have. Perhaps a bit biased, but I am especially inspired by my employees, as I am acutely aware of their challenges, dedication and loyalty. And every day, I want to apply my focus on being able to create a better environment and empowered individuals – this makes me push myself harder and faster, without trying to comprise the overall execution.

Q: In 5 years what do you want to achieve or where do you see you yourself?

A: That’s a hard question at this point in my career, mainly because I enjoy so many aspects of what I am doing today. With that said, I could see myself doing a similar role at a bit of a higher capacity, and adding some additional responsibilities in order to broaden my knowledge and skill-set even further.

Q: What do you like to do outside of work?

A: I love being outdoors and having new experiences! I am especially passionate about running, biking, yoga, and connecting with people. Spending time with family and friends, training for a marathon, hiking trails with my husband and pup, and sometimes relaxing with or without a good book.

Q: Do you have favorite memory or standout accomplishment during your time at Hyosung?

A: I had an opportunity to attend the pre-season Cowboys game with some of my team members – that was just awesome!
