Meet Nancy Walker
Senior Director of Compliance
Q: How long have you worked at Hyosung? What was your start date?
A: I joined Hyosung in January 2021.
Q: Can you tell us a little more about your background and how you joined the company?
A: Hyosung’s goal was to achieve certification under the Payment Card Industry Personal Identification Number (“PCI PIN”) Security Standards and needed to build a robust compliance framework. My background spans over 15 years of regulatory compliance, risk management, and audit coordination within highly regulated industries.
Q: What was your first impression of Hyosung?
A: What stood out immediately was Hyosung’s commitment to innovation. The company’s vision is bold and future focused. The culture here is forward-thinking and dedicated to excellence.
Q: Are there any important skills or attributes for someone pursuing a career here? Anything surprising about your role or team?
A: Regulatory compliance is one of those fields that seems dry on the surface but is actually full of nuance, strategy, and unexpected collaboration. Someone interested in pursuing a career in compliance would need to possess a strong eye for detail, critical thinking, integrity and accountability.
Q: Can you summarize your day-to-day responsibilities?
A: In my role as a compliance lead, I’m responsible for overseeing the organization’s audit readiness and ensuring we maintain alignment with industry standards–specifically Type 2 SOC 2, PCI PIN, and PCI DSS. I serve as the primary liaison between our internal teams and external assessors.
Q: What inspires you every day?
A: Working with others is energizing. Compliance isn’t a solo sport–it’s a team effort that thrives on collaboration. I’m inspired by the way different departments bring their expertise to the table.
Q: Where do you see yourself in five years?
A: In five years, I see myself continuing to grow as a strategic contributor within the organization.
Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
A: Outside the professional world, I am passionate about coaching and mentoring young adults through the Living Your Strengths Program.
Q: Do you have a favorite memory or standout accomplishment at Hyosung?
A: One of the most memorable experiences during my time with the company was leading the PCI PIN audit at our Vietnam facility. Beyond the technical successes, the experience reinforced the value of global teamwork.
Congratulations, Nancy! Your expertise and passion for excellence continue to strengthen Hyosung’s success, and we’re honored to celebrate your achievements this month.
