At Hyosung, our success stems from the incredible talent and dedication of our team members. Each month, we celebrate an outstanding employee whose hard work and passion make a significant impact. This January, we are proud to recognize Wes Armentrout, our Senior Director of Product Solution Engineering, as our Employee of the Month.

With nearly 13 years of service, Wes has become a vital part of the Hyosung family, driving innovation and fostering strong relationships with customers and colleagues alike. Below, Wes shares insights about his career journey, inspirations, and memorable moments.

Q: How long have you worked at Hyosung? What was your start date?
A:
Almost 13 years now. I started the first week of April in 2012.

Q: Can you tell us a little more about your background and how you joined the company?
A:
My last two years of high school were spent in a Joint Vocational School (JVS), where I studied Electronics. After graduating with near-perfect scores, I attended DeVry University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology in just over three years.

The job market was challenging when I graduated due to the aftermath of a terrorist attack. Despite medical issues and obstacles, I eventually built experience in roles ranging from parts inspector to wiring warehouse engineer. My career took a significant turn in 2005 when I joined NCR as a technician, later becoming a Regional Technical Support Specialist. In early 2012, I received an offer to join Hyosung as a Professional Services Engineer working directly in the Chase lab.

Q: What was your first impression of Hyosung?
A:
Ambitious. Coming from a competitor, I had heard of smaller manufacturers, but few truly innovated or posed serious competition. Hyosung impressed me with bold, consumer-focused designs that stood out in the market. I knew immediately that this was a company ready to make waves—and it did.

Q: Are there any important skills or attributes necessary for someone pursuing a career here?
A:
Communication and a desire to do more. Speaking respectfully and transparently with all levels of the organization has been essential to my success. My role allows me to approach challenges from multiple perspectives, which inspires creative solutions.

Q: Can you tell us about your role and summarize your day-to-day responsibilities?
A:
I work directly with customers, business units, and our headquarters team. My days include conference calls with executives, supporting service technicians, collaborating with sales professionals, and assisting with product discussions in the Customer Experience Center, labs, and even in the field.

Q: What inspires you every day?
A:
Knowledge, my family, our people, and our customers. Helping others succeed and providing understanding of our products gives me purpose.

Q: In 5 years, what do you want to achieve?
A:
My goal is to be better every day. As long as I continue to learn and strengthen relationships personally and professionally, I will achieve what I need. Also, I’d love to golf more—it’s a fun way to spend time with family and friends.

Q: What do you like to do outside of work?
A:
I’m a movie and TV nerd who created my own “WesFlix” by digitizing my large media collection. I also enjoy hiking, attending concerts, and spending time with my wife and our dog.

Q: Do you have a favorite memory or standout accomplishment at Hyosung?
A:
One memorable moment was during Chase’s Investor Day in Manhattan. I was scheduled to be onsite, and as always, I came prepared—complete with my signature 3-foot lime-green Phillips head screwdriver. A Chase professional recognized the tool and expressed relief knowing I was there, confident the Hyosung units would be at their best. That moment reminded me of the importance of being reliable and prepared.

Wes’s dedication, innovative thinking, and approachable leadership style continue to inspire us all. We are grateful to have him as a key member of the Hyosung team. Congratulations to Wes, our January Employee of the Month!
