Meet Brian Lim
Production Planning Director
Q: How long have you worked at Hyosung? What was your start date?
A: It will be four years next month. I joined Hyosung in June 2021.
Q: Can you tell us a little more about your background and how you joined the company?
A: I worked at LG Electronics for 10 years before joining Hyosung. At the time, I was feeling somewhat unmotivated and stuck in a routine, but joining Hyosung gave me the opportunity to return to the basics and regain my drive. It was a turning point that allowed me to approach my work with renewed energy and commitment.
Q: What was your first impression of Hyosung?
A: It was a collaborative and supportive environment where everyone worked closely as a team. I appreciated the genuine willingness among colleagues to help and lead one another.
Q: Are there any important skills or attributes that are important for someone who wants to pursue a career here? Is there anything about your job or your team that you think people outside would find surprising or different in the way you work?
A: I believe that attention to detail, precision, and thoroughness are essential in this role. In addition, strong communication skills are crucial—not only within the team but also when collaborating with other departments.
Q: Can you tell us about your role and summarize your day-to-day responsibilities?
A: In supply chain and production planning, my daily responsibilities include monitoring inventory availability, including ATM procurement, creating inventory projection reports, reviewing purchase plans, and making purchases. I also lead production planning—scheduling production, creating new part numbers and BOMs (Bill of Materials), solving operational issues, and providing solutions.
Q: What inspires you every day?
A: My family is a constant source of inspiration, which motivates me to pursue a healthier work-life balance. However, I acknowledge that maintaining this balance can be challenging at times.
Q: In five years, what do you want to achieve or where do you see yourself?
A: I’d love to see my retirement savings grow (who wouldn’t?). But in the next five years, my real goal is to achieve a more sustainable work-life balance.
Q: What do you like to do outside of work?
A: In my free time, I enjoy unplugging with my family—whether it’s gaming with my kids, camping, catching a good movie, or simply relaxing together.
Q: Do you have a favorite memory or standout accomplishment during your time at Hyosung?
A: One of my favorite memories has to be the moments after completing a tough project or challenging assignment—winding down over good food and a drink with colleagues and managers. It was a great way to celebrate our hard work and strengthen team bonds.
Q: Do you have a story you’d like to tell that wasn’t covered by any of the questions?
A: I prefer to remain a person of mystery—life’s more interesting that way.
Congratulations, Brian!
Your dedication and leadership continue to have a lasting impact on the Hyosung team. We’re grateful to have you on board and look forward to the milestones ahead.
